Forum software

Forums have been getting more and more relevant recently. People want to be in places where they can get all sort of info or just express their thoughts and ideas.

That brings me to the question: what's the best forum software to use? There are many to choose: vBulletin, IPB, XenForo, etc. And those are just the paid ones!

Which one do you prefer and why?

I think I'd go for XenForo. I've been on forums that use it and they're unbelievable cool and easy to use!

I used to use phpBB, but vBulletin seems better in many ways. Security reasons and so on... IPB is a good one, but I found vBulletin better. I would try XenForo which looks really good, but I don't have personal experience with it.

Xenforo would be my next choice for sure.

I will pick IPB and phpBB. For phpbb the forums ACP is easy to use and they allow provides you with tons of mods you can use on your forum. Which means you can customize your forum to the max of potential. For IPB, i will say i like the overall function of this software from the point of a user because i never tried using IPB ACP before.

iam also on phpbb. it looks like majority of users here uses it.

People usually don't want to pay for something they could get for free.
