It depends. You can't really compare paid forum software to the free ones, as many of the paid ones have excellent features and the owners are usually motivated with the amount of money they get from selling the software. Although, I'd probably say xenForo is the best paid forum software and MyBB is the best free alternative. MyBB has everything I'd ever need, which is why I always use it.
